Best Affiliate Marketing Tools: A Simple Stack for Beginners
October 14, 2026 | by Abdisalat Mohamed

Disclosure: some links in this guide to the best affiliate marketing tools are affiliate links. If you sign up through them I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Prices checked on each tool’s official pricing page on October 14, 2026.
Quick answer: The best affiliate marketing tools for most beginners are a cheap WordPress host (Bluehost starts at $3.99/month on a 3-year term), a free keyword tool (Ubersuggest’s free tier), and one traffic tool for the platform you’ll actually use, such as Tailwind for Pinterest. Add Shopify or Thinkific only when you’re ready to sell your own products, and ManyChat or InVideo only when social media or video is a real traffic source for you.
This guide is for beginners building a blog or small online business who want to spend as little as possible until something works.
How I picked these tools
I didn’t run a lab test of dozens of tools. These are the categories every affiliate site needs, and the tools I either use myself or that sit on the platforms I work with every day:
- What I use: Digital Whispers runs on WordPress, hosted on Hostinger. I build Shopify stores for clients, and I host and sell my own online course on Thinkific’s Basic plan.
- What I checked: current pricing, free plans or trials, and the limit you’ll hit first on each free tier.
- What I left out: tools sold with income hype, and anything you don’t need before your first commission.

Best hosting for an affiliate website
Your site is the one tool you can’t skip. Social accounts can be suspended; a blog you own keeps working.
Bluehost: best for a first WordPress site
Bluehost’s Starter plan is $3.99/month on a 36-month term and renews at $9.99/month. It includes up to 10 websites, a free domain for the first year, free SSL and a WordPress staging site.
- Good for: a first blog where you want WordPress installed and running in an afternoon.
- Not for: anyone who hates long contracts. The low price needs the 3-year term, and the renewal price is about two and a half times higher.

HostGator: best for several niche sites
HostGator’s plans run from Hatchling (10 websites) to Pro (100 websites), each with a free domain for the first year, free SSL and a 30-day refund window. Its pricing page didn’t show readable prices when I checked, so confirm the intro and renewal price at checkout.
- Good for: running a few small niche sites from one account.
- Not for: a single beginner blog. Bluehost or your current host is simpler.
If you already have hosting you’re happy with, keep it. Moving hosts won’t earn you a single extra commission. Still deciding? Compare them side by side in HostGator vs Bluehost and Bluehost vs Hostinger.
Best platforms for selling your own products
Affiliate links pay you a commission. Your own product pays you the whole sale. These two are worth it once you have an audience that trusts you.
Shopify: best for physical or digital products
Shopify Basic costs $29/month billed yearly or $39/month billed monthly, and new stores can try it for 3 days free, then $1/month for 3 months. With Shopify Payments, Basic charges 2.9% + 30¢ per online card sale.
- Good for: selling physical products, print-on-demand or digital downloads under your own brand.
- Not for: testing an idea with zero audience. A marketplace or a simple payment link is cheaper while you validate.

Thinkific: best for selling an online course
Thinkific no longer has a free plan; it offers a 30-day free trial instead. Basic is $40/month billed yearly or $54/month billed monthly, and the plan table lists affiliate reporting so you can track affiliates who promote your course.
- Good for: turning what you teach into a paid course with lessons, quizzes and student progress tracking.
- Not for: a single PDF or template. A store or a simple digital-product checkout costs less.
I host and sell my own course on Thinkific’s Basic plan, and it covers everything a first course needs.

Best automation tool: ManyChat
ManyChat automates direct messages on Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram. The free plan covers 25 active contacts a month, 2 channels and up to 4 active automations. Paid plans are priced by active contacts, starting at $14/month for 250 contacts on ManyChat’s pricing page.
- Good for: creators who get “link?” comments and want to send the link automatically.
- Not for: blogs that get most traffic from Google. Put the effort into content instead.
Best video tool: InVideo
InVideo turns a script into a video with stock footage, AI narration and captions, which suits faceless review and tutorial videos. Paid plans start at $10/month billed yearly ($20 monthly) for the Starter plan with 400 credits.
- Good for: short review or explainer videos to embed in blog posts or post on social media.
- Not for: polished, on-camera content. A regular editor gives you more control.
Best SEO and traffic tools
Ubersuggest: best budget keyword research
Ubersuggest shows keyword ideas, search volume estimates and competitor pages. The free tier gives a limited number of searches per day, which is enough to plan your first posts. For more detail, read my full Ubersuggest review.
- Good for: finding low-competition questions to write about.
- Not for: large sites that need deep backlink data every day.
Tailwind: best for Pinterest traffic
Tailwind schedules pins and suggests when to post. You can start free with no credit card; the Pin Scheduling & Creation plan is $17.99/month billed yearly ($29.99 monthly).
- Good for: visual niches like recipes, decor, crafts and printables.
- Not for: niches where nobody searches Pinterest.
Best affiliate network for beginners: Impact.com
Impact.com is where many big brands run their affiliate programs, including Shopify, Bluehost, HostGator and InVideo from this list. Joining as a partner is free; you apply to each brand separately, and each brand approves you.
- Good for: promoting well-known software and e-commerce brands with reliable tracking.
- Not for: expecting instant approval. Some brands want a live site with real content first.
My own affiliate programs run through Impact, and the tracking links in this post were created there.
A beginner affiliate marketing stack for under $5/month

You don’t need every tool on this list. Start here:
| Need | Tool | Cost (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Website | Bluehost Starter | $3.99/mo on a 36-month term |
| Keyword research | Ubersuggest free tier | $0 |
| Traffic | Tailwind (Pinterest) or your favorite social platform | $0 to start |
| Affiliate programs | Impact.com | $0 |
| Total | About $4/month |
Upgrade one tool at a time, and only when the free version is clearly the thing holding you back. A good rule: don’t pay for a tool until you can name the extra posts, videos or sales it will help you produce.
When should you pay for affiliate marketing tools?

- Stay free while you’re testing a niche, publishing your first 10 to 20 posts, or not yet earning.
- Pay when you’ve hit a free-plan limit (ManyChat’s 25 contacts, Ubersuggest’s daily searches) and that limit is slowing you down every week.
- Skip tools that promise income. No tool makes sales on its own; content and traffic do.
FAQ
What tools do I need to start affiliate marketing?
A website, a keyword tool and one traffic channel. Hosting, Ubersuggest’s free tier and Pinterest or another social platform are enough to start.
Can I do affiliate marketing for free?
Mostly. Networks like Impact.com are free to join and many tools have free plans, but a self-hosted website costs a few dollars a month.
Do I need Shopify for affiliate marketing?
No. Shopify is for selling your own products. You only need it when you add your own store alongside your affiliate links.
Which affiliate network is best for beginners?
Impact.com is a strong start for software and e-commerce brands. Approval depends on each brand, so publish some content before applying.
